Elizabeth Interviews Andrea Green, the composer/playwright for “On the Other Side of the Fence” and Haley Shinn, Music Therapist and two time facilitator of this wonderful musical!

Show Notes:

Andrea Green is a music therapist, composer, playwright, and director who creates and produces songs and musicals for children to foster empathy, understanding, acceptance and respect. Her shows are performed across the globe. Andrea is the 2019 recipient of the ‘Teacher as Hero’ Award from the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, Pa. and in 2014 her inclusive work was honored with a Proclamation from the City of Philadelphia. Andrea’s work is the subject of the 2015 Emmy-award winning documentary ‘On the Other Side of the Fence’, which also received a humanitarian award from the United Nations and numerous other film awards. Andrea Green’s numerous songs and musicals are published by Concord Theatricals  and Andrea Green Music. She worked for 40 years as a music therapist at the HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy, in Philadelphia, Pa. and is now uniting diverse groups of children around the world with her Under the Moon Song Project.

Andrea has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, and a Master’s in Creative Arts in Therapy from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa.

Haley Shinn, MM, MT-BC

Haley Shinn currently works for a private practice in Central Missouri. She completed her masters at Colorado State University while working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Prior to graduate school, she worked in West Virginia for three years and played an integral role in the program development of a private practice, school-based IEP services, school-based programmatic services, and community programs.

She has clinical experience with a wide variety of populations, including: early childhood, children and adolescents with autism and other special needs, emotional and behavioral disorders, stroke and rehabilitation, and elder care.

She is passionate about increasing access to services, loves the challenges and outcomes from program development, and is excited to connect with music therapists to help them stay confident and creative in their service delivery.
