School-based Music Therapy with Haley Shinn, MM, MT-BC | #27

We are thrilled to welcome Haley Shinn MM, MT-BC to the podcast….and to Giving Song! Haley joined our team of music therapy clinicians officially in August and we can’t wait for you to meet her! Listen and learn as Haley shares advice on staying inspired, self-care, working in schools, and more.

Haley Shinn MM, MT-BC is a board-certified music therapist originally from Kansas City. She completed her Bachelor’s in music therapy at UMKC and recently finished her Master’s in music therapy at Colorado State University. She has additional training in Neurologic Music Therapy and has researched how to add elements of DIR/Floortime in music therapy treatment.

Haley began her clinical work in West Virginia where she helped develop music therapy services in the community, in school systems, and for university programs. She has clinical experience working with children and teens with ASD and various developmental disabilities, stroke and rehabilitation, and elder care. She has also trained teachers and other professionals on how to incorporate music into their own practices and has supervised music therapy students and interns.

Haley is passionate about traveling (one of her goals is to visit all of the National Parks!), loves spending time outdoors while hiking, snowboarding, and camping, and is always down for playing games with friends and family. Her favorite dessert is ice cream—any kind!

Haley is also the Co-Founder of Music Therapy Made Simple….check them out at www.musictherapymadesimple.com
